The Rāhui on Lake Rotorua is now lifted.
Last week, Ngāti Rangiwewehi with the support of Te Arawa Lakes Trust placed a Rāhui on Lake Rotorua following the find of a tūpāpaku (body) at Waerenga Bay, between Hamurana and Mourea.
Ngāti Rangiwewehi descendent and trustee for Te Arawa Lakes Te Ururoa Flavell says,
“A karakia was held last week by Ngāti Rangiwewehi kaumātua to formally place a Rāhui on Lake Rotorua and today with a closing karakia that Rāhui has now been lifted.”
