The Te Arawa Catfish Killas team are currently monitoring 65 nets across Lake Rotorua and Lake Rotoiti. Six of these nets are in Te Weta Bay, where our first catfish was discovered back in 2016.
In March, we caught up with Lynmore Primary School down at Te Weta Bay to see how they were getting on. Check out the video here
These kids have been part of the catfish killas kaupapa since the beginning and are experts at eliminating catfish. All this experience really paid off as the kids had a big job counting over 1000 catfish caught this day!
Back at the Catfish Killas HQ we’ve been working hard planning for Te Tūkohu ngāwhā, our science fair which will be held at the end of June. Registrations for Te Tūkohu Ngāwhā are open now for tāmariki from year 6 to year 13. We have some amazing prizes up for grabs so get your ideas in asap!
